چکیده
We report the case of a 32-year-old man with Myotonic Dystrophy type 1 showing adenosine-induced sinus tachycardia during transesophageal electrophysiological evaluation.

Cardiac manifestations in myotonic dystrophy type 1 patients followed using a standard protocol in a specialized unit.
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES Myotonic dystrophy type 1 is characterized by muscle damage and systemic manifestations, including cardiac involvement. Our aim was to document the frequency and severity of cardiac involvement (left ventricular dysfunction and arrhythmia or conduction disorders), the need for a pacemaker, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, or electrophysiological study, and the...
متن کاملMyotonic Dystrophy Initially Presenting as Tachycardiomyopathy Successful Catheter Ablation of Atrial Flutter
Myotonic dystrophy is a genetic muscular disease that is frequently associated with cardiac arrhythmias. Bradyarrhythmias, such as sinus bradycardia and atrioventricular block, are more common than tachyarrhythmias. Rarely, previously undiagnosed patients with myotonic dystrophy initially present with a tachyarrhythmia. We describe the case of a 14-year-old boy, who was admitted to the hospital...
متن کاملMechanisms of sustained ventricular tachycardia in myotonic dystrophy: implications for catheter ablation.
BACKGROUND Ventricular arrhythmias have been documented and linked to the high incidence of sudden death seen in patients with myotonic dystrophy. However, their precise mechanism is unknown, and their definitive therapy remains to be established. METHODS AND RESULTS We studied 6 consecutive patients with myotonic dystrophy and sustained ventricular tachycardia by means of cardiac electrophys...
متن کاملGenotype–Phenotype Correlations in Iranian Myotonic Dystrophy Type I Patients
Objectives: Myotonic Dystrophy type I (DM1) is a dominantly inherited disorder with a multisystemic pattern affecting skeletal muscle, heart, eye, endocrine and central nervous system. DM1 is associated with the expansion and instability of CTG repeat in the 3chr('39') untranslated region of the myotonic dystrophy protein kinase (DMPK) gene located on chromosome 19q13.3. The aim of this study w...
متن کاملA Case Report of Neonatal Atrial Flutter with Poor Feeding and Tachypnea
Background: Arrhythmias in neonates are not common and usually affect newborns with a normal heart or those that suffer from structural heart disease. A malignant type of arrhythmias is supraventricular tachycardia. Meanwhile, one uncommon type of supraventricular arrhythmias is atrial flutter (AFL), which is founded upon reentry mechanisms in the atrium. The AFL may result in heart failure or ...
